Last blast in Lisbon

After a lazy morning by the pool, we headed out to the Mosteiro dos Jerinimos, which is a Portuguese monastery, built at the end of the 15th century by King Manuel I and entrusted to the Order of Saint Jerome. Though a stunning structure, we have seen quite a few monasteries and the line up was long, so we walked around it, took in the view and headed down to the harbour for some fluid. It was a hot day!

We then walked along the foreshore, slowly winding our way back to central Lisbon. Lisbon is a super busy port, so it was interesting watching the cargo ships and cruise ships come and go.

Of course all of this strolling needed to be rewarded with some food……of course!

Heading back into town, we picked up some “green wine” at the supermarket and decided that some more drinks and food were required! Of course!

Heading back up to the campsite, to polish off our green wine, cool down and to make sure our bags were all packed up, ready for tomorrow’s departure.

Lesley kindly dropped me at the airport this morning, and it was chaos! There is a baggage handlers strike today and so all flights have been asked to arrive early for check in. I think the airport may well have done Lesley’s nerves in, the traffic was madness. I fly out this afternoon and Lesley heads back to Bilbao to pick up her van and get it onto a ferry back to the UK.

And so ends our Spanish/Portuguese Meander.
