Last day of sailing

We chugged up the coast from Hvar to the island of Brač and stopped in the port of Bol. Known for having the Golden Horn of the Adriatic, it’s a white pebble beach in the shape of a horn (roughly) and due to strong currents, it’s never pointing in the same direction.

It was clearly super popular with Croatian families and they they were all out and about in the water super early.

We had some free time in Bol, so I wandered to the Horn, and then came back to check out the town.

Later in the day we had a tour of a local winery. The Greeks first introduced vines to Bol in the 5th century and the current winery dates from around 1903 and was so close to the ocean/port that they would roll the barrels out their doors, and over the road to the port! Their whole industry was wiped out in 2009 due to phylloxera and they’ve had to rebuild the vineyards since then.

It was then time for our swim stop, up the coast to a cove called Otok. It was good timing too, because it was quite oppressive in Bol and the cool, clear water was almost iridescent (and appreciated!).

We then cruised a little further up the coast to Milna (still on Brač). This was our final stop before getting into Split the next day.

I really enjoyed Milna, it was a sweet little town, with not a lot going on (read not too many tourists, US!) and just a sweet place to overnight.

The sunset off the back of the boat was one of the best we’ve had thus far. Tomorrow the engines start up early (5am) and we cruise off to the chaos of Split, saying goodbye and moving on to the next adventure!
