Lesley and I were aiming for Newquay on the Cornwall Coast and had about a 4 hour drive from London to get there. In our minds we were going to stop along the way and do some walks, get in some scenery and stretch our legs. Storm Antoni had other suggestions for us!! With occasional 50-65 mph winds and torrential rain, we were destined to not get much of a walk in!!!

Stonehenge was on our way through to our Area of Outstanding Beauty. We got to the ticket line and saw that the tickets were $25 pounds each, noted the massive rainstorm coming in behind us and recalled Kylie’s great advice that there are good shots from the highway…… we high tailed it out of there and did a Stonehenge “drive by”.

We stopped in a random little pub for some food, and for the briefest of moments entertained sitting outside… well we did sit outside with our beers. But then we thought better of it and moved inside. Next minute there was sheets of rain coming down solidly for the next 30-40 minutes. So it was a well timed feed!

By the time we landed in Newquay, we had experienced flooding rain, sunshine, 65 mph winds! We found our accomodation and decided that a brisk walk into town and to grab a beer or two and think about dinner. There was some crazy surfing going on in town (we thought they’d be dashed against the rocks). We found some beer, had a very bracing walk and decided that it was definitely time to hit the hay.
